A strong commitment to client service and excellent communication skills are imperative to be successful in this position. Individuals interested in the position must be compassionate, cheerful, and have a good work ethic. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. We provide a drug free workplace, continuing education, quarterly bonus program, and paid time off with a starting salary between $12-13 an hour depending on experience.

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is accepting applications for 2 certified Veterinary Technicians at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents and interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state-of-the-art care to animal patients.

Basic veterinary technician skills are expected, including but not limited to, venipuncture, peripheral intravenous catheter placement, performing basic physical exams, knowledge of appropriate species normal vitals, and appropriate animal restraint. Some familiarity with the common veterinary equipment such as blood pressure monitors, EKG machines, and gas anesthesia machines are also necessary. Some exposure to the more advanced skills such as urinary catheter placement, more developed triage skills, challenging patient restraint ability, multiple site capability for IVC placement, etc.
