We are looking for an energetic, motivated, people person to join our team. Full time Certified or Registered Veterinary Technician. Experience preferred, but not necessary.
Proficiency in blood draws, cystocentesis, IV catheterization, anesthesia induction and monitoring, dental prophylaxis, and good communication skills with clients and team members is essential. We offer in house lab services, digital radiography, and laser therapy, in addition to complete medical, surgical, dental, and wellness care for pets. The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a certified Veterinary Technician in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents and interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state-of-the-art care to animal patients.
This position provides and uses appropriate anesthetic techniques and principles for patients and research animals in the LVMC. The anesthesia technician will assess animals prior to anesthesia and determine an anesthetic protocol that is suitable and in the patient’s best interest for the procedure to be performed. This position will also need to have a complete understanding of the physiologic and pharmacologic principles of the medications and preparations used in the field of anesthesia, including medications for pain management.
Certification as a Veterinary Technician is required

This position provides care and assistance to pre- and post-operation small animal surgery patients under the supervision of Clinicians and House Officers at the Iowa State University Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center. Areas of surgical care include but are not limited to orthopedics, soft tissue, ophthalmology and neurology. Responsibilities include supervising and assisting students to complete tasks and develop daily planning for the service.

The successful candidate will possess multi-tasking skills to manage patients and students during procedures; demonstrate attention to detail for managing cases, scheduling, and performing or supervising procedures; have the ability to identify patients and the suspected procedure needed; and possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, clients, referring veterinarians, faculty, and staff members.
Certification as a Veterinary Technician is required
